USHUAIAThe next morning, you will be transferred from the hotel to the domestic airport for a comfortable flight to the capital of Tierra del Fuego, the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia. Located on the very edge of Argentina, surrounded by the majestic mountains of Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia will captivate you with its landscapes from the window of an airplane. A Swan Hellenic representative will meet you at the airport. The transfer will take you to the port for check-in on board the SH Diana.
The realization that you are on the edge. The earth does not come immediately. Meanwhile, you are 16,000 km from Moscow and only 1,000 km from Antarctica! Landing on the expedition ship SH Vega will go unnoticed. During the welcome cocktail, you will get to know the team and crew. You will be invited to the upper deck by speakerphone, from where you can take photos of Ushuaia, which is somewhat reminiscent of an alpine town with amazing views of the picturesque snowy peaks. You are going towards the White Continent!
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast at the hotel, lunch, dinnerDay 3. December 29, 2025. AT SEA — CROSSING THE ANTARCTIC CONVERGENCEDays at sea are the perfect time to observe seabirds and marine mammals from the ship. From the observation decks, the ocean stretches endlessly in every direction. As we make our way toward Antarctica through the Drake Passage, we cross the Antarctic Convergence — a unique zone where different water masses meet. Nutrient-rich waters rise from the depths to the surface, attracting countless seabirds and marine life, including several species of albatrosses, petrels, skuas, as well as whales and dolphins. Over just a few hours, the temperature drops significantly, a clear sign that Antarctica is near.
Onboard, an engaging educational program awaits. The expedition team of polar experts will introduce you to the history of Antarctic exploration, the origins of glaciers, the flora and fauna of the White Continent, and many other fascinating facts. Safety briefings for Zodiac landings will also be conducted.
And of course, days at sea are also a time to relax and enjoy life onboard. Visit the spa or fitness center, connect with fellow travelers and share your impressions, or retreat to the library filled with thematic books and reference materials.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDay 4. Decembe, 30б 2025. BELLINGSHAUSEN STATIONToday we make our way to the shores of the South Shetland Islands — a rugged but vibrant archipelago on the edge of Antarctica. Here, the air is slightly milder than on the continent, creating a unique world: volcanic slopes, mosses and lichens, black beaches, and penguins accustomed to wind and snow.
During the landing, we will walk along the edges of ancient calderas, see steaming rocks, and feel the underground heat beneath the eternal ice. Elephant seals and Weddell seals will be basking on the shore, while penguins scurry about, shifting from foot to foot as if checking that everything is in order with their visitors.
In the afternoon, we stop at King George Island. Amid icy winds stands the Russian Antarctic station Bellingshausen. The polar researchers will greet us like old friends, share stories of life at the edge of the world, and perhaps even invite us into the tiny Orthodox church — the southernmost on the planet.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 5. December 31, 2025. NEW YEAR ON THE ANTARCTIC CONTINENTWelcome to the White Continent. Today, you will set foot on Antarctica for the first time — harsh, dazzlingly pure, and alive.
Before us lies the Antarctic Peninsula: icy bays, icebergs the color of the northern sky, and a silence in which you can hear the breath of the ocean. We will make landings in places rarely visited by humans and explore the frozen landscape aboard expedition Zodiacs, weaving among towering ice monoliths. Penguins gather in endless colonies, seals bask lazily on ice floes, and somewhere nearby, a whale’s back will slip silently into the water.
For those seeking a closer encounter with the elements, polar kayaking offers the chance to navigate labyrinths of icebergs and meet a whale almost at eye level.
In the evening, the celebration begins — engines hum, ice cracks, and we welcome the New Year Antarctic-style: with the captain, the crew, fellow explorers, and the profound feeling that we are at the very edge of the planet.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinner Day 6. January 1, 2026. NEKO AND PARADISE BAYSToday we enter Neko Bay — a place where Antarctica speaks its own language. The glaciers here live and breathe: they crack, glitter, and then suddenly — a roar, a splash — and a block of ice the size of a house plunges into the water. Nearby, whale tails rise from the depths, as if the very elements have decided to reveal their full power to us.
Next, we head to Paradise Bay. The name doesn’t lie: this is a quiet corner of Antarctica, where the air is crystal clear and the silence rings in your ears. We climb to a viewpoint overlooking icebergs and glacial domes in every direction. And then, if the mood strikes, we simply slide down the slope — childlike, laughing, shrieking with joy. Because this is exactly how happiness feels at the edge of the world.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDay 7. January 2, 2026. PORT LOCKROYToday we approach the shores of Port Lockroy — one of the most scenic and iconic spots on the Sixth Continent. Antarctic landscapes unfold before us, breathtaking and pristine, while Gentoo penguins scurry across the snow like tiny guardians of the ice.
We visit the southernmost post office on the planet and send postcards with a real Antarctic stamp — a small keepsake for those back home. We stop by the only souvenir shop in Antarctica, where every item seems to carry the continent’s story. At the local museum, we step into the life of a 1950s polar station: no polish, no glamour — just the honest, raw existence of explorers at the edge of the world.
Next, we head to the rocky Damoisey Point. Amid the snowy expanse stand two historic buildings: the British Antarctic Survey hut and an Argentine refuge. Every crack in the walls, every weathered plank tells a story of struggle against the elements and of the people who came here to test the limits of the Earth.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDay 8. 3 January 2026. PETERMANN ISLAND AND LEMAIRE CHANNELWe land on Petermann Island — a true penguin paradise. Here, a huge colony of Adélie penguins is busy with the most important task of the season: incubating eggs and caring for their newborn chicks. We watch them closely, and if luck is on our side, we may witness the thrilling moment when a chick breaks free from its shell and takes its first steps in this icy world.
Above us, skuas — Antarctic “pirate” birds — swoop and dive, hunting penguin eggs and chicks. On land, we are greeted by Weddell seals, crab-eater seals, and majestic elephant seals, basking leisurely on the ice.
Later, our ship glides slowly through the Lemaire Channel — a true “Kodak Gorge.” The narrow passage is framed by towering mountains and glittering glaciers, while leopard seals lounge on ice floes. Orcas and humpback whales often appear nearby. The scenery is so breathtaking that it’s impossible to stop staring — cameras struggle to keep up, but our eyes remember every moment.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDay 9. January, 4 2026. POLAR BATHING ON DECEPTION ISLANDToday we experience an unusual kind of water adventure — a warm Antarctic bath right on the volcanic island of Deception. We swim in comfort, as the coastal waters are naturally heated by geothermal activity, as if nature itself is looking after us.
Meanwhile, Antarctic penguins watch us attentively from the shore, while Weddell seals lounge lazily nearby. It feels as if we’ve become part of their world — icy, quiet, and yet incredibly alive.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDays 10–11. January 4–5, 2026. CROSSING THE DRAKE PASSAGEOur ship turns back toward Ushuaia through the Drake Passage. After days filled with adventure, we have time to relax and explore the vessel: visit the boutique, enjoy the onboard bar, climb up to the captain’s bridge, or gather with fellow travelers in the lounge areas to share impressions of our journey.
In the evening, a celebratory dinner awaits with the captain, officers, and expedition team — a moment to come together and mark the conclusion of an extraordinary Antarctic chapter.
Accommodation: cabin on SH VegaMeals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerDay 12. January, 2026. USHUAIA AND BUENOS AIRESThe cruise comes to an end as the ship returns through the Beagle Channel to Ushuaia — the very starting point of this unforgettable Antarctic journey. The southern tip of South America emerges on the Argentine side of Tierra del Fuego, with majestic mountains rising above the Ushuaia harbor.
After breakfast, we bid farewell to the ship’s crew and expedition team and disembark. Expedition participants will be transferred to Ushuaia Airport for their flight to Buenos Aires. Upon returning home, a special surprise awaits: following tradition, the Swan Hellenic team will send each guest a link to download a film capturing the expedition cruise — a photo and video report to treasure the journey for years to come.
