Day 1. January 23, 2022. Yaounde

Evening arrival by flight to Yaounde. Meet the guide at the airport and transfer to Safyad Hotel 3*. Overnight.
* Recommended flight TK-669 with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, arrival at Yaounde at 23:45 am on January 24.

Day 2. January 24, 2022. Yaounde – Ngaoundere

Breakfast. In the morning city tour of Yaounde – the capital of Cameroon. Visit Yaounde Museum, Symbole of Reunification. In the afternoon visit panoramic view from Mount Febé. Transfer to train station where we take night train to Ngaoundere with departure at 19:10. Dinner and night in the train (compartments with 4 beds each).

Day 3. January 25, 2022. Ngaoundere – Poli. 211 km

Breakfast in the train. Arrival in Ngaoundere, the capital of Adamawa province, around 9 – 10 am. Departure to Poli by 4WD SUVs. We descend from the Adamawa Plateau to the Benue Valley. You can feel the climate change and see the stunning scenery of the African plains. Very soon instead of modern settlements around Ngaoundere we can see traditional constructions made of mud. On the way we meet different tribes, including Mboum tribe. Mboum are considered the first inhabitants of Ngaoundere. Mboum are polygamous. While some of them are Christians and Muslims, the others still practice animism. We also visit Dourou tribe who, along with Fulani, live on the territory between Ngaoundere and Garoua. Arrival in Poli around 5 pm, accommodation at Municipal Auberge hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4. January 26, 2022. Poli – Namdji, Dupa (Sari), Dowayos and Mbororo tribes. 55 km

Breakfast in Poli – capital of Faro province. Today we visit number of authentic tribes. We start with Namdji tribe, getting into acquaintance with their way of living and their traditions. Namdji tribe is famous for producing the Namdji "Statuts", kind of amulets which are considered as holy spirits.
Visit of Dupa tribe in Sari village who are similar to Namdji tribe. We get into acquaintance with the lifestyle (basically agriculturalists and also keen on hunting) and culture of this people, watching their dancing. Continue to the Dowayos tribal village who are animists and famous for collecting the human skulls and witch doctors.
Transfer to the Mbororo tribal village. Mbororo tribe are nomadic people so they migrate together with their cattle looking for fresh pastures. Being officially Muslims they are still practicing some animistic beliefs which makes their culture unique. Mbororo is an ethnic group of Fulani people who are considered one of the most beautiful people in all Africa. Sometimes in November they still practice their famous Guerewol – men's beauty contest where female jury choose the winner. Female beauty is underlined by elaborative facial tattoos and scarifications of very original and unique patterns. Such tattoos and scarifications are applied to the girls starting from the age of 8. We take time to learn more about their culture and possible witness the night dance. In order to get closer acquaintance with Mbororo people, we have to stay overnight with them. Setting up our camping in Mbororo village near Vako division.

Day 5. January 27, 2022. Voko – Wangai – Librou Koma village (Alantika Mountain). 40 km

Breakfast, drive to Wangai via Faro Park having chance to see some animals (which is however not guaranteed). Continue to Wangai village. Arranging porters to take care of our luggage. Trekking to Librou village in beautiful Alantika mountains, takes about 3 hours. Librou is the Koma tribal village. Koma tribe is the authentic tribe who left only in Alantika mountains. Koma being the animists have "the sorcier", or witch doctor (healer), who tells to the tribal people predictions about all important things in their life like good time to cultivate, time to harvest, the date of marriage or festival. If we are lucky we will witness Sorcier Peteur ceremony when Koma perform their mystic dance and remember the ancestors. Camping with Koma people, dinner and overnight.

Day 6. January 28, 2022. Librou – Nagamalou Koma village – Keolo Koma village

Breakfast and trekking to Nagamalou village – another traditional village of Koma tribe. Koma are indeed unique people. Their clothing is more than modest. Women wear the leaves around the waist, and men wear the animal skin. Koma are agriculturalists, therefore their life is strongly on the work on the fields where they grow their staple food - the wheat. In addition, they also hunt with bow and arrows.
Trekking in Alantika mountain is the adventure in itself: we will see many beautiful views, take a bath in the rivers and take amazing pictures. Continue (some 3 hours of trekking in total) to Koelo village of Koma tribe where we can dive deeply into their culture, sit around the fire and attend traditional dance of Koma women and men. Dinner and night in the camping.

Day 7. January 29, 2022. Koelo – Wangai – Garoua. 200 km

After breakfast, trekking back to Wangai where we take the cars and drive to Garoua. En route visit Catholic Mission in Fygnolé village, visit interesting market in Ngong village. Upon arrival in Garoua, visit of Handy Craft Center and learning more about traditional medicine. Dinner and night at Hôtel la Tour d'argent hotel.

Day 8. January 30, 2022. Garoua – Kola Gorge – Rhumsiki. 230 km

Breakfast, drive to Gorge of Kola, visit of this extraordinary volcanic gorge that in a way resembles Antelope canyon in the USA but of smaller scale and of dufferent, grey color. Continue driving to Rhumsiki via Mandara Mountains. Upon arrival in Rhumsiki we visit witch doctor. Cameroon is a country of animistic tribes such as Kapsiki. After we get acquainted with the rituals and enjoy the scenery of the mountains, we will walk around the village. Sunset, dinner and night at Rhumsiki Lodge.

Day 9. January 31, 2022. Rhumsiki – Trekking Valley – Garoua. 130 km

Breakfast, trekking to the Mountainous valley of Rhumsiki within 3 hours. Here travelers discover the Martian surreal landscapes of a verdant highlands which is pierced by popped up peaks of volcanoes. Particularly unusual and notable is Mount Ziwu which resembles the finger of God sticking out of the ground. Or it is the Devil's finger. Nobody knows but the mountain is considered the sacred for Kapsiki and their shamans perform healing ceremonies right near this mountain.
Drive back to Garoua and overnight at Hôtel la Tour d'argent.

Day 10. February 1, 2022. Garoua – Ngaoundere – Ranch de Ngaoundaba. 415 km

Early breakfast and start before 8 am. Long drive to Ngaoundere. Upon arrival in Ngaoundere, visit of Lamido's Palace of Ngaoundere. Continue to the Telo waterfall, Idool village of Peul tribe and transfer to the Ranch de Ngaoundaba, ideal and very beautiful place to stay near the crater lake. Dinner and overnight at the ranch.

Day 11. February 2, 2022. Ranch Ngaoundaba – Bertoua – Abong Mbang. 600 km

After breakfast we have long drive (though very good road) to Bertoua and further to Abong Mbang. On the way we visit Gbaya tribe. Gbaya populate the area between Ngaoundere and Bertoua. They are involved into cultivating cassava and collecting honey. Honey is very important for Gbaya, so they even dedicate their festival to the honey. Arrival in Abong Mbang, accommodation and overnight at Hotel Résidence le Zurikoi.

Day 12. February 3, 2022. Abong Mbang – Lomie – Baka Pygmies traditional village. 185 km

Early breakfast, drive to Lomie, continue to Messok where we start trekking (about 1 hour) deep into the forest before we arrive in the nomadic camp of Baka Pygmies tribe. Meeting one of the shortest people on the planet. The height of some of them does not exceed 120 – 130 cm. According to studies of the Baka Pygmies' DNA, it turned out that they are one of the oldest people on Earth. Activities with Baka: building of the hut, dance, photo session. Setting up our camping. Overnight in tents in our camping near Baka village.

Day 13. February 4, 2022. Baka Pygmies traditional village – around Dja Reserve – Lomie. 55 km

Breakfast. Walk into the forest with the hunters men from Baka Pygmies tribe. Baka tribe belong to the Pygmies people who live in the rainforest in Cameroon, RCA, Gabon and Congo. Baka are deemed the first inhabitants of Cameroon rainforest. It is believed that thousands of years ago Pygmy tribes populated vast area in Africa but were later squeezed out by other tribes to the deep forest and adjusted to the nomadic life in the jungle. They live by hunting and gathering, changing the place for nomads camp from time to time. They are also famous for their procedure of collecting honey from the tops of the huge trees. Man who can bring honey to his wife is considered the most successful person and is gonna be loved by her. That is why Pygmies are ready to run the risk but get the honey.
Even if nowadays most of Pygmies wear the modern clothes, they remember and respect their traditions very well. Baka adhere to animistic beliefs. They worship the forest spirit known as Jengi or Ejengi, whom they consider their ancestor and protector. After each successful hunting , Baka perform a thank-you dance called Luma, which is accompanied by a drumming and polyphonic singing. Baka are very skilled in using a variety of plants, from which they receive various chemicals used to treat diseases and infertility. Traditional medicine is widely known among neighboring tribes who often come to Baka healers for help.
After hunting in the jungle we also attend the process of climbing the tree and collecting honey, learning about traditional medicine etc. We will listen their magic stories, stare at rhythmic dances and enjoy the beauty and sincerity of the place. Late afternoon short drive to Lomié. Dinned and overnight at Raphia Hotel.

Day 14. February 5, 2022. Lomie – Yaounde – Edea. 510 km

Breakfast and long drive to Yaoundé, capital of Cameroon. After lunch continue westward to Edea, very close to Pongo Songo sanctuary that we gonna visit tomorrow. Dinner and overnight at Hostellerie de la Sanaga.

Day 15. February 6, 2022. Edea – Marienberg – Pongo Songo – Kribi. 110 km

Breakfast and drive to the south west, to Pongo Songo, a part of Douala-Edea Sanctuary bordered toth Sanaga river in the north and Atlantic ocean on the west. Here we visit Pongo Songo Chimpanzee Sanctuary where chimps are brought to live in the wild in order to multiple the population of this primates. Chimpanzees are social animals who live in communities and are constantly moving. They are not as easy to photograph as gorillas, but believe us, not less interesting. Chimpanzee is the primate closest to humans; our DNA is 98% identical. Excursion to chimps.
Drive south to Kribi, beautiful resort right on the bank of Atlantic Ocean. Check-in at Hôtel Ilomba and relax on the beach. You can have great dinner with local sea food.

Day 16. February 7, 2022. Kribi – Douala airport. 165 km

Fishing in the morning, relaxation on the beach and swimming in the warm waters of Atlantics. You can enjoy super fresh sea food, especially the prawns which are considered possibly the biggest. Day on the sea. Late afternoon drive directly to Douala city airport (165 km but by very good road). Flight baсk.

- certificate with negative result of PCR coronavirus test that is to be taken (that is sample to be taken but not result issued) at maximum 72 hour prior to your departure to Cameroon (negative coronavirus test result should be in PDF format, clearly stating the date of the sample collection and the type of test, e.g. PCR)
