TRAVEL PROGRAM: TOUR TO CAR AND CONGO
Day 1. January 14, 2024 (Sunday). Arrival in Bangui (Central African Republic)

Arrival in Bangui. Welcome by the Local Guide and transfer to the
Hotel Obangui. Accommodation, dinner and overnight at Obangui Hotel.

- from Moscow with Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa and Duala, departure from Moscow on January 13 at 22:00, departure from Addis Ababa at 9:10 am on January 14, departure from Duala at 15:45 on January 14, arrival in Bangui at 17:20 on January 14,

Day 2. January 15, 2024 (Monday). Bangui – Boali Falls – Bangui

Breakfast, departure from Bangui for the visit of the Boali falls and lianas bridge of Boali, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 pm, with a lunch at waterfalls.
Return to Bangui, visit to Russian House in Bangui, the Craft Market, the cosmopolitan central African market.
Transfer to the Hotel. Dinner and overnight at Obangui Hotel.

Day 3. January 16, 2024 (Tuesday). Bangui – Bayanga, Dzanga Sangha Park

Breakfast, small city tour and transfer to the airport. At 11 am flight from Bangui to Banyanga at Dzanga Sangha Park. Arrival around 1 pm. Lunch at the Doli Lodge.
Around 3 pm small boat trip to see how the tribe Sango collect the Palm Raphia for wine in the forest, traditional process. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4. January 17, 2024 (Wednesday). Doli – Yamdobé – Bayaka Pygmies' camp in deep forest in Dzanga Sangha

Breakfast, trekking from Doli to Yamdobé village, meet Bayaka Pygmies tribe. Visit of very big village with more than 1000 Bayaka Pygmies people.
Continue trekking to the deep forest, we will do 2-3 hours trekking in the deep forest, crossing at least 3 rivers. On the trekking way, we will discover some medicinal plants.
Put our tents in the deep forest. Afternoon, fishing with Bayaka women. At night participating in dancing, storytelling.
Dinner and night in tents.

Day 5. January 18, 2024 (Thursday). Bayaka Pygmies' camp in deep forest in Dzanga Sangha

Breakfast, trekking to hunting area, participating traditional Bayaka hunting with nets. Taking an opportunity of honey collecting and other collecting of roots and medicinal plants. Will see traditional process of honey collecting by climbing the huge tree.
Upon return to the camping place, lunch and water drums.
In the evening attending the Magic Ejengi dance with Bayaka Pygmies. Dinner and night in tent.

Day 6. January 19, 2024 (Friday). Bayaka Pygmies' camp – Yamdobé – Doli Lodge – Elephant Bai safari – Doli Lodge

Very early breakfast and we take a way back to yamdobe village (some 2-3 hrs trekking).
By car back to Doli lodge. Installation in the rooms, relax.
Early lunch and 12:30 and drive to the Dzanga Bai for safari. Arrival at the camp, we go to the Bai 45 minutes to reach the landscape of Bai. 2 or 3 hours watching the elephants, buffalos, sitatungas, bongos, various birds.
Return for dinner at Doli lodge, overnight.

Day 7. January 20, 2024 (Saturday). Gorilla trekking in the Bai Hoko – Doli Lodge

Early breakfast, road to a deep forest of about 50 km to reach the gorilla trekking area, arrival at Bai Hoko, Dzanga Sangha park. Formalities, information on hiking. We will discover western lowland gorillas. Gorillas are sometimes 45 minutes or 1 hour of hiking distance, sometimes more.
We will stay with the gorillas for 1 hour. Return to Doli Lodge, dinner and overnight.

Day 8. January 21, 2024 (Sunday). Dzanga Sangha Park – Ouesso (Republic of the Congo)

Breakfast and big experience ahead! Full day we navigate by motor boat downstream of Sangha river to Ouesso, Congo (more than 200 km). Departure from Doli Lodge at 7 a.m. by boat to the border with Republic of the Congo, for border formalities. Continuation by boat to Ouesso in the north of Republic of the Congo.
Arrival in the harbor, formalities and continue by car to the hotel. Briefing with the Guide. Dinner and night at the Onanga hotel.

Day 9. January 22, 2024 (Monday). Ouesso – Odzala village – Baka Pygmies village of Magyele – Makoua

After breakfast, check-out and drive to Odzala village, around 110 km from Ouesso. Upon arrival in the village, continue driving to the Pygmies' village. Full day activities with the Baka Pygmies. We will experience Baka way of hunting and climbing the tree for collecting honey.
In the evening, Iboga practices. Pygmies in this area are practicing hallucinogen effect of Iboga tree. They usually do it at night. It is practiced in a different way to the Bwiti ritual in Gabon.
The Iboga tree is central to the Bwiti spiritual practices in West-Central Africa, mainly Gabon, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo, where the alkaloid-containing roots or bark are used in various ceremonies to create a near-death experience. Iboga is taken in massive doses by initiates of this spiritual practice, and on a more regular basis is eaten in smaller doses in connection with rituals and tribal dances performed.
In the evening continue driving south up to Makoua (145 km). Late arrival in Makoua and overnight in the Hotel Le Fleur.

Day 10. January 23, 2024 (Tuesday). Makoua – Equator – Owando – Gamboma

After breakfast, we celebrate crossing of the equator in old city of Makoua.
Departure for the Gamboma village, capital of the old kingdom of the Tékés to meet King Makoko (275 km).
Arrival and installation in the Baobab hotel (basic amenities).
We attend Mabo dance in Makoua.
Dinner and night in Boabab Hotel.

Day 11. January 24, 2024 (Wednesday). Gambouma – Mbe Kingdom – Ngabé

Breakfast, drive to Odziba and further to Mbe (200 km).
At the crossroads of Odziba, the road on the right leads to Mbé, capital of the Tékés, located 55 km east of Odziba. A large village in the Plateaux region, Mbé has preserved some vestiges of the heroic era when the agglomeration was the capital of a vast kingdom of 85 000 square km, extending over the Congo and the former Zaire, on both sides.
Meeting with King Makoko. You can still see in Mbé the royal residence of Makoko, a brick house and a stele commemorating the signing of the famous treaty of 1880. It is indeed here that French explorer De Brazza made his first encounter with the Makoko Ilôo 1st, of which he kept a dazzled memory.
Then we will continue towards Ngabé, 40 km west of Mbé. Arrival in Ngabé and installation at Touristic Lodge Ngabe.

Day 12. January 25, 2024 (Thursday). Ngabé

After breakfast, meeting with the Queen, delivery of gifts brought. It was in Ngabé, a small port on the Congo River, that the wives of the Tékés kings once resided, the first of whom, "La Ngassa", bore the title of Queen and played a major role in the Kingdom. She was often chosen to become the guardian of sacred objects, in particular "Nkwembali", the spirit of the kingdom residing in the sacred cataract. One of the last of these Queens, Ngalifourou, wife of King Makoko Ngankia, lived in Mbé until 1958 and her family has kept her ebony bust. According to those close to her, Ngalifourou had magical powers: she could make rain fall, transform herself into a man or an
animal and command wild animals. We will attend the traditional mask dance of Kébé-Kébé.
Explore surroundings of Ngabé, short drive by canoe along Congo river to the local villages of fishermen.
Dinner and overnight at Touristic Lodge Ngabe.

Day 13. January 26, 2024 (Friday). Ngabe – Brazzaville

Breakfast and drive from Ngabe to Brazzaville (180 km).
On the way we will visit the Valley of the Butterflies, at the edge of a small clear stream.
Arrival in Brazzaville and transfer to the Hotel de la Paix.
Later in the afternoon we will meet the vivid Congolese Sapeurs (Dandies) around in the Brazzaville downtown. Craft market.
Dinner, overnight.

Day 14. January 27, 2024 (Saturday). Brazzaville – Return flight

After early breakfast, short city tour in Brazzaville: visit of Savanio de Brazza sanctuary or monument and rapids on Congo river.
At noon airport transfer. Return flight.
