And we will start our day with a visit to Lake Attabad and admire the view of this beautiful blue lake.
Lake Attabad was created in 2010 as a result of a powerful landslide that blocked the course of the Hunza River, creating a natural dam 2 km wide in the valley. About 20 people died. The Khunza River's watercourse has been blocked for five months. The formation of the lake and flooding forced about 6,000 people from villages in the Hunza River Valley to leave their homes. More than 25,000 people were deprived of transport links, as more than 19 kilometers of the Karakoram highway were flooded.
Then we will continue our journey to the village of Passu, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the picturesque cones of Passu, which create a delightful landscape of this area. On the way, we will visit the 194-meter-long Hussaini Suspension Bridge. The most desperate can walk through it. The reward will be the magnificent views from the bridge. But be prepared for the fact that large gaps are left between the adjacent wooden beams of the bridge, which are designed so that the structure does not sway much in the wind.
In the evening, we will walk through the picturesque village of Gulmit and admire the unforgettable sunset among the majestic mountains.

GULMIT – BASKOCHI (2,800 meters above sea level) – HUNZA VALLEY (40 km, 1 hour drive)After breakfast, we will begin the ascent to the top of Baskochi to admire the stunning view of the valley below.
We will return to the Hunza Valley by lunchtime. We will spend the rest of the day getting to know the way of life of the Hunzakuts, a special people from the Hunza Valley who are very different from the surrounding peoples. Some researchers suggest that these are the descendants of Alexander the Great's soldiers. There are also many centenarians among the Hunzakuts. Over 100 years of age won't surprise anyone here. There are legends about the endurance of Hunzakuts. They say that men can walk a hundred kilometers in one direction, come back and go to work in the field. Women also spend a lot of time in the field, after which they do all the housework and don't get tired at all. Another important detail is that no one in Hunza is overweight. Even in a 15-degree frost, they swim in icy water. Their women over the age of 50 look like girls, and at 65 they are still having children. They are not characterized by strong nervous experiences. They never get angry or complain, they don't get nervous or impatient, they don't quarrel with each other, and they tolerate physical pain, noise, and similar troubles with complete peace of mind.
We will visit the Khunzakuts in their ancient traditional houses and chat with them over a cup of fragrant tea, certainly with apricot jam.

Here, nature brings to harmony the soft edges of the mountain ranges and the transparency of the blue sky. The Basho Valley is an amazing paradise hidden among the Karakoram Mountains. Representing a natural garden with green meadows, where bright flowers bloom, this place can delight even the most sophisticated traveler.
The valley owes its name to the British mountaineer William Martin Conway. He was the first European to visit it in 1892. And he expressed his admiration for the valley with the poems of the famous Japanese poet Matsuo Basho.
We will return to our hotel in Skardu later in the evening.
Meals included: breakfast, lunch, dinnerAccommodation included: Tibet HotelDay 10. October 20, 2026 (Tuesday). SKARDU – KATARPUNAR DESERT DUNES – SKARDU (40 km, 1.5 hours drive)Today we will go to another amazing place – the Cold Katarpunar Desert. It is one of the highest mountain deserts in the world, located at an altitude of 2226 meters above sea level. It is a natural valley 10 kilometers wide and 40 kilometers long, located at the confluence of the Indus and Shigar rivers. In winter, the temperature drops to -25 °C, and in summer it reaches +27°C.
The sand dunes surrounded by the snow–capped mountain ranges of the Karakoram and the Himalayas (including the second highest mountain in the world, K2) create a breathtaking view. And if we're lucky, the dunes will also be covered with shallow snow, creating an absolutely surreal landscape.
The reason for the formation of such high–altitude deserts is the "rain shadow" - powerful mountain ranges block the wet monsoon winds, preventing the rains from reaching these inland valleys.
