Norilsk – Lake LamaWe begin in Norilsk — one of the northernmost cities on Earth, known for its harsh climate and Soviet industrial past. From here, civilization fades, and we enter the vast, wild realm of one of the most remote and geologically fascinating landscapes in Russia.
The Putorana Plateau was formed around 250 million years ago by colossal volcanic eruptions. Layer upon layer of solidified basalt created an immense step-like highland above the Siberian plain.
Today, it remains one of the most untouched corners of the Arctic, marked by deep canyons, countless waterfalls, and a complex web of rivers and lakes.
Our journey to base camp follows the Lama River, a lifeline of the region, with its rapids and cascades. Lake Lama — one of the largest and deepest in Krasnoyarsk Krai — stretches over 80 km through the mountains of the plateau. With depths reaching 300 meters, its waters are cold, crystal-clear, and spiritually important to the Indigenous peoples of the Taimyr.
By evening, we arrive at a cozy, comfortable northern lodge complete with a traditional Russian banya (steam bath) and a heated plunge pool — perfect for unwinding after the journey.
For those seeking a deeper connection to the land, there’s a traditional Dolgan chum (nomadic tent) where you can sleep like the reindeer herders of the tundra.
We gather in the evening for a welcome dinner featuring local specialties and an expedition briefing.

August 25, 2026 (Saturday). Neralakh CanyonAfter breakfast, we set off on a hiking route along the southern tributary of the Neralakh River — a true open-air geological laboratory. Here, layers dating back some 250 million years are visible — the ancient basalt cover of the plateau. The trail runs along the canyon edge carved by the river over thousands of years. We will reach one of the cascade waterfalls, which roars even during the driest weather.
On the way back, there will be an opportunity to swim in the mountain river. Return to the camp.
In the evening, dinner with authentic regional dishes awaits us.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinnerAccommodation included: comfortable resortDay 3. August 26, 2026 (Sunday). Kamenniy PeninsulaToday we embark on a day hike along the Kamenniy Peninsula — one of the few places on the plateau where several natural zones can be crossed within one trail. The route passes through alternating ecosystems: from Arctic tundra with dwarf birch and mosses to subarctic taiga. This gradual vegetation shift is especially visible in late summer.
Along the route is the Vitaminkia River. Its name was given by military geologists who collected blackcurrants here during summer expeditions. This water body is surprisingly clean, rich in oxygen, with transparent channels and natural rapids. The water is drinkable and does not even require filtration.
In the afternoon, we return to the base. Optional fishing: by late August the water is noticeably colder, and grayling and whitefish become more active. If fishing isn’t your thing, you can take a SUP board. The lake is usually calm in the evening, like glass. The sauna is being heated on the shore. Those who wish can enjoy the steam room; others relax with hot tea and discuss plans for tomorrow.
Near nightfall, we head out for filming. If activity is high, we may catch the Northern Lights. Otherwise, we shoot stars and the Milky Way undisturbed — here it is completely dark, with no lights for hundreds of kilometers.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinnerAccommodation included: comfortable resortDay 4. August 27, 2026 (Monday). Nikita-Yuryakh Mouth and Waterfall CascadeAfter breakfast, we change sectors. We head to a lesser-known part of the plateau, where a whole system of river terraces formed by ancient basalt flows hides.
Kapchuk Lake is narrow and elongated, with basalt lava outcrops along its shores. There are almost no straight lines — only natural geometry. We move to the river mouth, which feeds one of the plateau cascades.
Our route passes through a series of waterfalls up to 108 meters high — the tallest waterfalls in northern Russia. Geologists consider them unique due to their stepped structure.
Along the way — a light picnic lunch organized by the experienced team. Upon request: spinning fishing from the shore. The area is promising — grayling and sometimes northern whitefish can be found. Everything depends on water conditions.
By evening, we return to the base. Dinner, sauna, free time.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinnerAccommodation included: comfortable resortDay 5. August 28, 2026 (Tuesday). Festivalnaya MountainWe start the day with a light breakfast and head towards the Kamenniy Peninsula. From here begins the ascent to Festivalnaya Mountain, reaching about 1000 meters above the water level. Most tourists climb up to 600-700 meters, which is enough to reveal a 360° panoramic view of deep valleys, endless water mirrors, and mountain ranges of Putorana Plateau. This is one of the key climbs on the plateau.
Lunch outdoors. In the evening, we return to the base to rest and prepare for the next expedition day.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner Accommodation included: comfortable resortDay 6. August 29, 2026 (Wednesday). Yuzhnaya MountainWe begin the day with a short trip to the base of Yuzhnaya Mountain — the gateway to one of the most memorable Putorana routes. Through forest tundra and along a picturesque mountain stream, we ascend to a series of waterfalls.
The highlight is a snowfield that keeps ice even in the heat of summer. Here you can not only take pictures but truly feel the contrast between August heat and eternal cold.
The total route length is about 8 km with a 650-meter ascent. The route requires good physical shape and love of genuine nature.
Return to base — time for recovery and lunch. In the evening — an exclusive grill party with elements of northern rituals, designed to conclude the journey on a high emotional and energetic note.

We will see vast industrial complexes, learn about life in extreme conditions, and hear stories unavailable to regular tourists (additional cost).
