Day 2. November 1, 2026 (Sunday). NUKUS – MUYNAK – NUKUS (400 km, ~6 hrs drive)Morning departure for Muynak. Our journey will take us across the dried seabed of the Aral, once a thriving body of water, now a striking reminder of an environmental catastrophe. Not long ago, Muynak was Karakalpakstan’s largest port and the center of its fishing industry.
In Muynak, we will visit the Museum of the History of Muynak and the Aral Sea, as well as the famous Ship Cemetery on the shore of the vanished sea — now standing in the desert sands.
After the excursion, return to Nukus.

NUKUS – KHIVA (200 km, 3 hours)In the morning we’ll have a short sightseeing tour of Nukus, followed by an excursion outside the city to Mizdahkan Necropolis – once an ancient settlement. We will also visit the 2,200-year-old Zoroastrian Tower of Silence known as Chilpyk.
After the excursions, transfer to Khiva. In the evening, we will enjoy a national-style performance and dinner.

KHIVA – DASHOGUZ (TURKMENISTAN) – KUNYA-URGENCH – DAMLA (250 km, 4 hours)Today we’ll explore the inner town of Khiva – Ichan-Kala, surrounded by massive walls. This ancient city preserves centuries-old palaces, mosques, madrasahs, mausoleums, minarets, caravanserais, and baths that create a unique open-air museum. There are more than 400 traditional houses and about 60 monuments here. Since 1969, Ichan-Kala has been recognized as a historical and architectural reserve.
Key sites include the Kunya-Ark fortress, built by Muhammad Arang Khan in the 17th century; the Kalta Minar Minaret; and the Tash-Khauli Palace – a remarkable example of Khorezmian architecture from the 1830s.
After the city tour, we transfer to the Shavat border crossing between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. At 16:00, we will be met at Dashoguz checkpoint and continue to Kunya-Urgench (UNESCO site). Here we will see the Mausoleum of Najm al-Din al-Kubra, Sultan Ali Mausoleum, Kutlug Timur Minaret, Sultan Tekesh Mausoleum, and Il Arslan Mausoleum.
Afterward, we drive to the village of Damla. Dinner at a guesthouse. Overnight in tents or in a simple guesthouse (only 2 shared rooms – one for women, one for men; no beds, sleeping arrangements on the floor; shared bathroom and toilet). Accommodation choice must be made before the start of the tour.

Afterward, we continue to the Darvaza Gas Crater – the spectacular “Door to Hell.” Here you can admire the surreal sight, feel the heat, and listen to the roaring sound of this giant burning pit. Nearby we will also visit two other craters – one filled with mud and the other with turquoise-colored water.

DARVAZA – HORSE FARM – TURKMENBASHI MAUSOLEUM – ASHGABAT (250 km, 3.5 hours)Morning photography session at the crater. After breakfast, we drive to Ashgabat and check in at the hotel.
In the afternoon, we will visit a horse farm to see the pride of the Turkmen nation – the Akhal-Teke horses. We’ll enjoy a traditional tea break, a short horse show, and explore the stables.
Later, we will stop at the Mausoleum of Turkmenbashi, the first president of Turkmenistan, and the unusual mosque nearby, decorated not with Quranic surahs but with Turkmenbashi’s sayings.
To round off this rich day, we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner with a cultural show.

ASHGABAT – NISA – NATIONAL MUSEUM – DEPARTUREToday we’ll visit the ancient city of Nisa, once the capital of the Parthian Empire. In 2007, Nisa’s fortresses were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list as an outstanding cultural landscape.
Next, we’ll explore the National Museum of Turkmenistan, home to unique collections of paintings, graphics, and sculptures, featuring both Turkmen art and masterpieces of Russian and Western European artists.
After lunch, transfer to the airport for your international flight home.
