We invite you on a journey led by a knowledgeable historian into the innermost essence of Tibet, to its ancient capital — Lhasa.

We will encounter eternity: marvel at the impregnable Potala Palace, immerse ourselves in the meditative atmosphere of the Drepung, Sera, Ganden, and Drak Yerpa monasteries, and take a stroll by Yamdrok-Tso lake. It is said that its waters were created by the will of the great teacher Padmasambhava. The roads will reveal to us views of the colossal Karola Glacier—the silent guardian of high-mountain passes — and the world’s deepest canyon, Yarlung Tsangpo.

We will be not merely observers but guests: we will get acquainted with local traditions and taste the true flavor of Tibet. This journey, where the gold of temple relics echoes the sun-kissed glaciers, and prayer flags flutter in the wind beside the silent surface of the lake, will be an immersion into the very essence of the "Roof of the World."

Day 2. June 12, 2026 (Friday). LHASA. POTALA PALACE, JOKHANG MONASTERY, BARKHOR STREET

After breakfast transfer to the Potala Palace. This is a royal palace and Buddhist temple complex in Lhasa, Tibet. It is located on a high hill overlooking the city.
The palace was the main residence of the Dalai Lama until the fourteenth Dalai Lama fled to India after the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959. Today, the Palace of Potala is a museum that attracts many tourists every year.
After lunch, we will visit the Jokang Temple 大昭寺 - one of the most sacred Buddhist temples in Tibet and the most revered place in Lhasa. Jokang is a majestic building with gold roofs and walls, decorated with frescoes and precious stones. Inside the temple there are many statues, altars and other religious objects. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The wife of the Tibetan king, Wencheng, from the Tang Dynasty, explored the area using geomancy, a technique belonging to Feng Shui. This technique is based on observations of natural terrestrial phenomena and can be considered knowledge from the fields of astronomy, astrology, medicine, bioenergetics, and landscape studies. The aim of geomancy is to choose the most suitable location for buildings or burials.
The princess identified the location of the future temple as the body of a giant demoness. The lake represented her genitalia, and her heart was where the Potala Temple now stands. The king ordered the lake to be drained and a temple built in its place, as well as stupas and monasteries surrounding it to protect the demoness and keep her from harming others. He believed that the temple buildings would keep the demoness's evil at bay.
Return to the hotel.

Day 3. June 13, 2026 (Saturday). DREPUNG AND SERA MONASTERIES

After breakfast, we will visit a Tibetan village where we can spend time with the locals and attend the festival. On the first day of the New Year, the Tibetans wake up early, wear new traditional clothes, make offerings at the altar, and begin celebrating. We are looking forward to attending a cooking class to learn how to make Tibetan dishes and, of course, the festive dinner. We will also try homemade barley beer and Tibetan tea.
We will sing and dance with the Tibetans to celebrate the New year. On the first day of the new year, it is a tradition to gather with the whole family and eat Guthuk, a noodle soup with different fillings, such as yak meat, white radishes, dried cheese, homemade noodles, onions, beans, tomatoes, and spinach. Some families even make a vegetarian version.
This soup is not just a meal, but a way to predict the fortune for the coming year. The ingredients in the soup symbolize different aspects of life, such as strength, prosperity, and happiness.
Then we will walk around the village and watch the locals celebrate. They will be expressing their faith and joy in different ways, including singing, dancing, and lighting fireworks.
During the first few days of the holiday, many Tibetans visit monasteries and temples. Notice the variety of traditional clothing. This time, people from different parts of Tibet come together, dressed in their finest traditional attire and jewelry.

Day 4. June 14, 2026 (Sunday). GANDEN MONASTERY - DRAK YERPA

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer about 1.5 hours to Ganden - one of the three great monasteries of Gelug school in Tibet, located 40 km from Lhasa on a picturesque mountain slope. This is a place with a centuries-old history, destroyed during the Cultural Revolution, but partially restored. There is a special spiritual atmosphere, and from the top you have a great view of the valley.
After we will arrive at the Drak Yerpa Temple complex. This place is located at an altitude of about 4500 meters above sea level and known for its natural beauty and spiritual significance.
In Drak Yerpa, there are ancient caves where Tibetan yogis and Dalai Lama meditated.
The concept of "terma" is central to Tibetan Buddhism. It is believed that Shakyamuni Buddha and Guru Rinpoche (also known as Padmasambhava) understood that their contemporaries were not yet ready to fully comprehend all the Buddhist teachings. Therefore, they left behind "terma", which are texts, relics, and revelations for future generations to discover. These terma can be found in various forms, such as stones, meditation experiences, or dreams. The spiritual significance of a location is determined by how many terma have been found there.
This is similar to the Christian tradition of honoring the places and dates of the appearance of saints, for example, in Portugal there is the city of Fatima, near which the apparitions of the Mother of God took place, so for all Catholics it is one of the most revered places to visit.
This complex is associated with King Songtsen Gampo, the first ruler of Tibet. Legend says that King Songtsen and his two wives stopped here for meditation. Inside the cave, they discovered the baths, which are self-developing symbols of Buddha's body, speech, and mind. There are also many thermal springs around Yerpa, including the famous Sera ritual dagger. The cave is one of three significant places for spiritual development.
Finally, we will return to the hotel.

Day 5. June 15, 2026 (Monday). YAMDROK LAKE,KAROLA GLACIER,KUMBUM STUPA, PELKOR CHODE MONASTERY

After breakfast, we will set off on a journey to the sacred Yamdrok lake — the turquoise heart of Tibet, captivating with its grandeur and spiritual power. Situated at an altitude of 4,441 meters, it is one of the three most revered lakes in the region, its waters shimmering in all shades of turquoise against the backdrop of snow-capped mountain peaks, resembling a giant scorpion in shape.
The journey from Lhasa will take about 2.5 hours through the picturesque Gampa La Pass (4,790 m), where we will be greeted by colorful ritual prayer flags and the first panoramic view of the lake. From the viewing platform, the famous scenery that adorns many postcards unfolds — here, you can take photos with Tibetan yaks, tie a prayer flag for good luck, and try traditional Tibetan yak butter tea at a local café.
Along the way, we will stop at the majestic Karola Glacier — one of the largest continental glaciers in Tibet. Its ancient ice masses, descending from the mountain peaks, create a harsh and mesmerizing landscape. Due to climate change, the glacier is gradually receding, making it essential to witness this natural wonder now.
The culmination of the day will be a visit to the magnificent Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse — a 15th-century architectural masterpiece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique stupa, miraculously preserved through the centuries, contains 100,000 sacred images and embodies the Kalachakra Mandala. Here, we will have the opportunity to join pilgrims performing ritual circumambulations, spinning prayer wheels, and immersing ourselves in an atmosphere of spiritual seeking.
Return to the hotel.

Day 6. June 16, 2026 (Tuesday). TASHILHUNPO MONASTERY, YARLUNG TSANGPO CANYON

Breakfast at the hotel.
In the heart of Tibet, at an altitude of 3,800 meters, the majestic Tashilhunpo Monastery stands — a spiritual fortress founded by the First Dalai Lama in 1447. Its golden roofs, gleaming under the mountain sun, and snow-white walls preserve centuries-old traditions of the Gelug school. Here, you will be greeted by a 26-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha, cast from 279 kg of gold and adorned with precious gems—a silent witness to Tibet's spiritual grandeur. In the halls housing the tombs of the Panchen Lamas, where gold shimmers in the light of butter lamps, you will feel the breath of history, and while observing the monastic debates in the inner courtyard—you will hear the living pulse of Tibetan Buddhism.
From the sacred silence of the monastery, the journey leads to the colossal Yarlung Tsangpo Canyon — the deepest on the planet. Its sheer walls, soaring to 6,009 meters, are carved by the turbulent waters of the Brahmaputra River rushing through the Himalayan ridges. Here, across 504 kilometers, a grand natural symphony unfolds: from eternal snows on the peaks to subtropical jungles at the base, where magnolias bloom and rare langurs play. This canyon, revealed to the world only in 1994, remains an eternal monument to the power of nature — a place where time flows differently, and every bend of the river tells a story millions of years long.
